The World Trembles
If you read/listen/watch the news, you would have known that more than 9500 people from Asia have been killed due to the effects of the most serious earthquake in the world in 40 years. The earthquake in Indonesia measured a 8.9 on the richter scale. On the day right after Christmas, when many people are still in holiday moods too. Although Malaysia is not sitting on the earthquake belt, tremors was felt in various states and tidal waves killed up to 53 in several parts of the country. There are still people missing. This is only Malaysia, countries like Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India are even worse hit.
I was awake and tossing and turning in my bed when this happened but didn't feel anything (most prob more asleep than I thought I was) or know about it until I read the news later in the day.
As the tolls continue to rise, let's hope for the best for those affected, and for their family members as well. As with any disasters that hit a country, the hospitals are also affected. I read in KVPUG that Langkawi hosp and Penang hosp are in code red. Let's also pray for the healthcare professionals who are taking care of those injured, they are most probably overworked. Sigh.
