Finished At Last

I’m talking about Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I don’t believe in pre-ordering books, and definitely was not interested in joining long queues in the wee hours of the morning. So… I didn’t have a copy of the book waiting for me come 21st July and you can imagine the horror when I found out about the Hypermarkets-Bookstores conflict and the resulting embargo.

I am not really affected by spoilers, I try to avoid them (as in, I wouldn’t go searching for them), but it would not be a huge deal even if someone had told me. It is the story and the reading of the book I am in for, not the ending. Therefore, when Elena posted spoilers on her blog, it didn’t really matter to me. I didn’t really read through her post, but like I told her, post all the spoilers she wanted, it would not have affected me.

BUT…

My brother got himself a copy of the book on day 1, and called to tell me he is going to tell me who died. THAT is where the problem lies… If he gets to tell me the ending, he would have “won” and that MUST NOT happen. :P

I went out on Tuesday afternoon (thank goodness the bookstores finally decided to sell the book after all) and got myself a copy of the book… started on it a few hours later, reading late into the night. I was about 2/3 way through but had no time to read it during the day on Wednesday and only really got ’round to it in the late afternoon. And when he announced that he finished reading, I had to turned off my IMs, make sure I don’t check mails, not pick up phone (in case he calls)… and FINISH THAT DARN BOOK!

AND I AM DONE! Under 36 hours from the time I paid for the book until I finish reading… Phewww… All is well…

Did I like the book? Well, it sure is a lot better than Half-Blood Prince, Order of Pheonix and Goblet of Fire… But a little confusing with the introduction of too many new things. Overall, I’ll give it an 8/10.

Now now… book’s done, I better get back to planning what I will be blogging during the blogathon this weekend. Please… do do DO support us. :)

    I got the book on Day 1, 7.05am
    But I haven’t even finish reading yet
    What am I doing? hmmm….
