Confusing Days
10 February 2007Remember when you were a kid and your mom told you not to lie? But situations in life sometimes force you to right? And the little sin now and then does help make things better occasionally, right?
Well, a “little lie” got my group into a mess (and evenings of hard work) 2 days ago…
We all thought the first case report was due on Friday of week 3 (aka next Friday), so when the scary consultant (SC) asked us about it on Thursday (of week 2)…
SC: “How are your cases coming along?”
Us: (None of us have done up a complete case yet) “Oh… going along fine!”
SC: “So they’ll be ready on Friday?”
Us: (Thinking there’s another week more to go) “Yeah, sure.”
SC: “OK. I’ll give you until Monday then… send it in by 1pm next Monday.”
Us: (Sudden realisation that SC was talking about the coming Friday in his earlier question) “Erm… OK” O_O
Now, that’s we shouldn’t lie, guys!!! Aiyoz… And I’ve got a very interesting problem… my patient has hepatic encephalopathy. He thinks it’s now 1966 and he doesn’t know what his doctor does. (In fact, when the SHO asked him, “do you know what I do?” He replied, “no… but I know her, she came and saw me 2 days ago. She’s a medical student.”) It’s great that he remembers me… but he is the worst historian ever, and he just wouldn’t let me examine him. Oh no….
