« Disastrous exam II - Getting back into the swing of things »
Post-Exam Break
24 January 2007*Warning* Lotsa pictures.
I had my last paper on Thursday and rushed off on Friday morning with Shie Ling for a weekend away. I got to spend time with 9 wonderful people. The group of 10 was a really interesting mix. 2 Swiss, 2 Maltesians, 1 Austrian, 1 Norwegian, 1 Indian, 1 Finnish and 2 Malaysians.

Not the complete group ‘cos the Finnish was somewhere trying out new skis, I think.
And I was in this very beautiful country.

It was a pretty tiring journey. We left for Dublin early in the morning and arrived in Zurich in the late afternoon, and then we had to take a 1hr 30min train ride to Erstfeld where Tom met us and brought us to his place in Intschi.

Arrived in a very pretty little house just 15 minutes from Andermatt…

It’s a wonderful place! Even has a traditional heating system where you burn wood for warmth!!! I loved it.

The next day, we went to Andermatt, the little village turned ski resort…

It rained the day before, and that melted the snow, which froze again… so it was too icy for beginners like me to try snowboarding or skiing. But we went into the cable car and got to Gemsstock, which is at the very top.

(L to R) Maria, Tom, Monique, Shie Ling
The sun was shining nice and bright and my oh my… was it beautiful!!!

The next day was a lot better and Shie Ling and I got to try a bit of snowboarding (although I spent more time in the snow than on my board)…

We left for Zurich and stayed over at Sebastian’s that night since our flight home was the following day. We were walking to his place when he told us about the area he lives in (it is only 15 minutes walk from the main train station), “on the right is where the prostitutes are, on the left are the pubs and shopping is right in front.” Looks like he’s got all the essentials. :P
Since we had some time, we wanted to take a look at Zurich before heading off on the train to their airport,

As we were walking along, I was inspired by this…

and I got home with these…

Right now, this is what I really want to be doing…
