New Things
22 July 2006Elena has got a new (older) brother and a new boyfriend (that her boyfriend bought for her)… Me, I’ve got a new phase of life to look forward to. And this new phase of life will start a month from now.
I have gotten past the “maybe I don’t want to go” stage… I do want to go to Belfast, I do want to start studying again. In fact, I can’t wait to go. It’s been too long an idle period, and the lack of intellectual stimulation is making me very lethargic. Apart from wanting to get my brains up and alive again, I am also looking forward to exploring a new place, experiencing a different culture and getting to know other people.
Yes, there’s no doubt that I’ll miss home. But since when is there something that’s entirely good, where there’s no flip side to it? I am sure I will manage.
I have done almost everything, bought almost everything. All that’s left to do is to figure out how many packets of Brahims and A1s I am bringing with me. ;) If anyone has good pre-prepared foodstuff ideas, please share k? Anything Asian’s good, anything Malaysian’s even better… it just has to taste good, and is easy to bring/send over.
Oh yes, to my other UK-going friends, if you plan to send your things over, it seems like poslaju is the best option RM753.50 for a 20kg box and that’ll take 2 to 3 working days. Alternatively, you can send via ABDA excess baggage, that’s a little cheaper but I don’t think it comes with a tracking service. But I believe with ABDA, you may be able to arrange for your stuff to be sent on the same plane you’re on. As for the cheapest option, that’ll be pos malaysia’s surface mail, that takes anything from 1 to 3 months and cost RM100+, but seniors have lost their boxes before, so make sure whatever’s going by this route is easily replaceable (your 30 months worth of notes are not replaceable :P)
Me… I think I’ll be using Poslaju. They even have a pick up service if you’re willing to pay the extra RM2! Whee!!!

caryn: apparently ching ling’s stuff never appeared in belfast lah.. eh, I’m thinking of doing what Zen mentioned in her blog. Pack a box of foodstuff and send by surface mail. heh.

Eh, what else you bringing, ah? I haven’t packed, bought, or even PLANNED what I’m bringing.
(I sound so unexcited.)
I know I’ll definitely be sending foodstuff by the cheapo, ie. surface mail route. Was thinking of doing that with my books, too, but after hearing you, I kiok already.
(Excuse the Manglish… Best I can do after speaking in BM 60% of the time.)

OHMIGOSH, I just realised… Where’s your tag-board, dude?!? And can you please set it up that your blog pings blogrolling when you’ve updated? I decided to check your blog for fun today, and to my horror, I found that you’d written 4 new posts that I didn’t know about, ‘cos I’ve been relying solely on my blogroll to tell me when someone’s updated.
