SBT: Nasioncom
11 November 2005SBT is a new category of posts in Rantings, and it stands for SUX BIG TIME. What kind of posts fall into this category is clearly self explanatory
First, some background…
While everyone is bitching about slow, unstable streamyx connection, I don’t even get streamyx here!!! Not because I live in ulu timbaktu, but because I have the misfortune of staying in Vista Komanwel, where your options of broadband connections is truly limited to nasioncom, time.com and jaring wireless. And because I moved in during the time when I didn’t have a choice, ie. I had to use nasioncom, I am pretty much stuck.
Wonderful nasioncom was bad about 2 years ago when I first started using, then it improved. Very good prospects, we thought. And then came the frequent downtime and most recently, the always-down syndrome. My connection has been slow since 2 weeks ago and has been down since Tuesday, meaning this is the forth day I don’t have a connection at home.
To make matters worse, their customer service is no better. First there was a change in phone number that was conveniently done without informing well, US, their customers. Then there is the either-engaged-or-no-one-picks-up customer service line (when you finally get their number). And when they finally pick up your call, you’re more or less ensured of a horrible experience.
Tuesday and Wednesday I recieved empty promises of “I’ll call you later to update you on the situation, Ma’am”.
Thursday was much better, I got the updates I want. But when everyone elses’ connection was finally up again and mine was still dead, I figured that it must be a seperate problem from other people’s. And called again at around 5.15pm, to which I’m told they’ll “look into it”.
So I called again this morning and was duely informed that everyone elses’ connection is “down again” and they cannot give me a timeframe as to when things will be fixed. As for my problem that seems a little different, well, “we’ll look into it ma’am” and “no ma’am, we don’t know when the connection will be fixed”.
Ok, let’s see…
1. I don’t like being asked whether I am looking at their modem and whether I also have a streamyx connection, because I like to think I’m not stupid. Moreover, if I can get a streamyx connection, I will not be using Nasioncom!
2. Telling me that other people also also having downtime isn’t helping the situation. If your system and your technical team is incompetent and everyone on your system is down, it isn’t my fault. You jolly well get it back up again. ‘Cos hey, we’re paying.
3. Even if the connection isn’t back up, and you promised to call to update, you do so. Leaving me hanging in midair isn’t a very good idea.
4. November is made up for 30 days. If I have 4 days of non-stop downtime, that’s more than 13% of the month. And the last time I checked, we pay monthly subscription, which is more expensive than what streamyx charge, by the way.
FUCKINGPISSEDOFF
Update: They called and told me they’ll send their tech guys on Monday. Hmm… One whole week of downtime, somehow I feel bitter about paying this month’s bill. Bah.
