End of a Phase
27 October 2005We had the long overdue Debate Society AGM yesterday (since it’s past midnight already), as such, we have officially stepped down. THANK GOODNESS!!! I won’t say that I am truly happy with the new committee, because certain people have not proven to be very responsible over the past year. But well, if the rest of the club still want these people to hold important appointments, what can I say?
Whatever the case may be, it doesn’t matter anymore. What matters, to me, at least, is that the AGM and the formation of the new committee signifies the end of a phase in my life. I held the same appointment in the club for 2 semesters, it was a good experience but definitly tiring as well. A lot of running around to do, a lot of worrying to do… I’m glad it’s over.
To the new committee, all the best. :)
To the semester 1s, with my batch leaving in december, you will be the batch with the biggest population. Don’t be afraid to go for tournaments, don’t be afraid to speak, don’t ever say “I’ll debate in the next tourney”… everyone has to start somewhere. You guys have the potential, work hard and you’ll be fine.
To Prasad, I seriously think you have the potential to hold that particular position but maybe it isn’t time yet. I never ever nominate for the sake of doing so, or as a red herring, for that matter. Don’t think silly thoughts ok?
To Sheena, GB, Elena, Richard, AGong, Rahman & Chewing Grass, it has been a wonderful 1.5 years. If not for debates, I don’t think we would have gotten to know each other as well as we have. From IVF in sem 2 until now, we have grown a lot, whether as individuals or as debaters (no, I’m not talking about age). *Hugs* You guys rox.

Since becoming adjudicator, I feel my debating skills going shit la… not the other way round as it is supposed too.
But it’s been great, the time we spent together. Manila!!! We must go Manila!!! Most prob the only time we can go together as a debate contingent again.
