Traditional Viagra

13 October 2005

Viagra is a presciption drug so you’re supposed to get it from your doctor. It’s used to treat erectile dysfunction and I’ve got no idea why people out there want to be treated for ED when they have no such problem.

Well, back to Viagra. There are now other ways to get it. No, you don’t need to go down on your knees and beg your doctor for a prescription or bribe your friendly pharmacist to slip some to you or get it from some spam-sending websites and worry about them not mailing it to you (or worse! your mum recieves your mail ordered parcel on your behalf). You go to some traditional medicineman, preferably as dodgy and suspicious as possible, tell him that you want to have better sex, being graphic may help… and hope that the drug he is selling to you contains sildenafil.

A manufacturer dealing in traditional medicine capsules has been found to have made and sold products that included scheduled poisons, including Viagra.

The manufacturer had applied to register its various traditional medicines with the ministry’s Pharmaceutical Services Division some six years ago, said the enforcement branch’s deputy director Dr Ahmad Mahmud.

“However, the moment it received the approval and registration number, it added scheduled poisons – including sildenafil (Viagra), painkillers and anti-histamines – to some of its products.

Like.. WTF???

Disclaimer: I have nothing against traditional medicine or its practitioners. Just the people, practitioners and manufacturers alike, that are giving a BAD BAD name to traditional medicine. Hey… I still like going home to a bowl of bird’s nest soup and still pop ginseng pills (no, I refuse to take the bitter drink) nearing exam time to keep awake k…

Update: Palmdoc posted about the issue in MMR as well. A much more serious point of view.. as opposed to my crazy sacarsm.

The most common misconception about Sildenafil, is that it will give one an erection, period.
Wrong. After one is ’spent’, if one is no longer desiring sex, the erection will not occur.
Hence, it works best for older people who have trouble getting one when they’re interested. Doesn’t do nuts for young people who want to ’stay hard’ for multiple encounters.
