Gongster and I didn’t do as well as we did last year, although I do feel that we’re much better speakers now than before (don’t ask me why the results doesn’t show it)… I guess we should be glad that we finished with 7 points when both of us merely wanted to “go wing it” and didn’t matter load or train very much.
Sheena & The Kid .. well.. they are Sheena & The Kid. A lot of people have seen this team composition over and over again, be it Asian Style (plus Gongster) or BP Style.
What was interesting are the other 3 teams…
GB & P (the male one): The only IMU team that broke and IIANM, they broke pretty high too. I’m very impressed with P’s performance, considering he has only been for 2 (or is it 3) trainings. Looks like GB taught him a lot of stuff… and M203 has something to worry about during IMU Cup. Hmm…
A & YS: They did very well also, at 7 points. I even had people asking me “YP, who your team 4 ah?” Oh ya, can someone please explain to me why A speaks differently at tournaments. As for YS, I’m thinking of a way to poison his food or P’s food so that they cannot form a YS & P team for IMU Cup. *ponder*
R & P (the female one): It’s their first tournament, I sure hope they had a lot of fun. The two of them have loads of potential and just need some trainings. :) A lot like the M203-ians when we first started out (maybe even better).
Good Things
As with all tournaments, the camaraderie forged among the IMU debaters is the most valuable. Going through rounds after rounds, consoling each other if shit happened, cheering each other on. It rocks. :) Since this will be the last tournament for some of us, it’s really good to see juniors coming up. The M205s have a lot of potential… With them, The Kid, the M203-ians who are still going to be around, it looks like the debate society isn’t going to die after all. *grin*
If anyone still doesn’t know… I love the IMU debaters.. :)
Bad Things
I say this after almost every tournament and I’ll say it again. Bad adjudicators should be shot. Bad adjudication kills the fun of debating. After NHSD this time ’round, a certain dumb ass managed to displace two bitches from AUDC to claim the title of “biggest dumb adju who should be shot”. It may sound like I’m being sore, but let’s just say that it wasn’t my team which got the bad adju. You know the adjudicator sucks when things like this happen:
BDAWSBS: The CO only attacked the OG case, that’s why the OG lost.
Us: Huh? But the CO didn’t take the OG’s POI, they didn’t have a chance! Anyway, you’re saying that the CO didn’t attack the CG case and therefore didn’t fulfill their role and they won?
BDAWSBS: Errr…Us: Wasn’t the whole case built on a factual error? *continues elaborating…*
BDAWSBS: My panel believed them, but don’t you go asking my panel ah… *wags finger*
If ever debaters get to debate on the motion “This house would subject bad adjudicators to capital punishment”, I forsee…
Gov case: Kill bad adjudicators! KILL!!! Rid the world of bad adjudicators!!! Benefit to society *blah blah* Stop undermining the idea of debates *blah blah*
Opp case: No way! Put them through old school war time tortures. Don’t kill them, torture them. Make them suffer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They don’t deserve an easy death. Let’s stab them with a blunt knife and make multiple holes in their body, then pour salt all over their wounds… It’ll be a deterrence *blah blah* Justice to all debaters of the world.. *blah blah*

And while we are at it, we can just ask them once they are dead if they want to donate their organs and to whom. Better still, we will just still it cos,drug addicts are victims, not criminals.
