Nice People Down South
10 September 2005In the midst of all that Xiaxue issue during the past two weeks, I almost forgot that there are many very nice Singaporeans out there and that XX is actually a horrible representation of our neighbours in the south. Thanks to a very timely gathering, I was made to remember that Singaporeans I know are very very different from the XX-types.
Ling came back from India, Mil came back from UK, I was on a one week break from KL, so we arranged (with very short notice too) a little gathering, in Holland V’s NYDC. I’ll call it the “Girls Meet Up”. Ling, Mil, Cherlyn, Gina, LQ and myself went… We had a good time, but it would have been even better if Siaw wasn’t in KL and Jane was free to meet up as well. Hmm.. maybe next time.
It has been 3 years since we left JC, we’ve all split up and gone on our seperate ways in different courses, different Unis and even different countries. However, somethings never change…
LQ is still as “hungry” as ever, she’s still the first to say “eh, I’m hungry”. She’s still the one that we suan for fun, even when she isn’t around. She’s still funny as ever, with her superb blur-ness. We still continue to tease her ’bout her small eyes but hmm.. someone “grew up” eh? ;) Whoever meets her should ask her ’bout her bimbo song, superb!

Me: No lah, don’t think so. Doesn’t look like…
Mil: No way! LQ has much smaller eyes

Gina is, well, Gyna lor. She still gives me the warm, fuzzy, omg-so-adorable feeling. I keep thinking of orange (as in the colour) when I’m around her. Hee. Oh ya, so proud of her this time ’round. She didn’t run off to the washroom every 10 minutes!

Cherlyn is still as sweet as ever, the most si1 wen2 one among us. *grinz* Good to know that the girl is active in her hall choir. Yupz, she really can sing! And don’t ask me how she ever hits the notes she does, it’s a miracle!
As for Ling… you know, sometimes there are people that you just don’t know how to describe? She’s one of them. We’ve been through the bullying-the-guys phase in primary school, the failing-third-language phase in secondary school and finally the kicking-the-class-rep’s-ass phase in JC. Although we haven’t met up for eons, it’s nice to know that when we did meet up, we could still yak like the old days.

All good things have to come to an end, so yeah, we all had to go back to our respective homes and get on with our respective lives. I just hope that no matter what field we go into, where we end up in time to come, we’ll always stay in touch.
Girls… see you again soon. To Mil and Ling, have a safe journey back to Uni!
