As The Earth Revolves Around The Sun

14 November 2004

We all know from primary school science that the earth revolves around the sun and the moon revolves around the earth, now, what do our lives revolve around? What I mean is, what are the items that rank top on our list of priorities? Has there been any changes? In my case…

In primary school, life was about playing, playing, oh ya, playing, making friends, being accepted and ya, playing. Results? Er… when Ma pushes me to study, I study. That’s about it.

In secondary school, it was still a lot about getting accepted. (Yes, I was an insecure kid) But a main part of my life was about RCY, a very main part. I was willing to travel across the causeway at 5.30am, and return home after 9.00pm on Saturdays just for the sake of RCY. It was crazy. I was compromising my studies, but I didn’t quite care.

In JC, something in my head clicked and I realised that I can no longer hope for decent results if I don’t put in more effort in my studies. So, studies moved up a little on the list. As for the whole acceptance thing? It went out the window. I was more concerned about friends I have made. So, life went round and round around studies and friends. RCY moved down the list… all the way down till it disappeared off the list by the time I went to uni.

Nowadays, my life revolves around studies and Ma. Friends are important to me and I love my friends, but they are no where near important as Ma or good results. The fact that studies is of such high priority to me is most probably because of Ma too. So yeah, my Mama is the most important thing in my life right now. (Yeah, I’m a mummy’s girl, you got a problem there?) Looking back… quite a bit has changed eh?

What is the single most important thing in your life?
